(This is
the fully uncut version of the film, including the notorious "topless"
scene and the cyborg suicide - both segments are usually snipped by the
censors)
Godzilla celebrates his 21st birthday with this motion picture, but the
magic "21" doesn't necessarily mean cinematic maturity. He's
simply a goofy-n-benevolent giant dinosaur who's accepted the dubious
responsibility of being Earth's security guard.
For this
episode, evil space aliens have repaired their Mechagodzilla and they
send him, along with sidekick Titanosaurus, to defeat Big G. Obviously,
that doesn't happen. After this film, Ishiro Honda (who directed the first
entries) left Toho Studios to form a production company with his close
friend Akira Kurosawa. The two directors worked together on many films,
including RAN (1985), until Honda's death in 1994.
